Hope for Harry is a Special Named Fund at CCLG raising money for research into Wilms' tumour.
Harry was four years old when he was diagnosed with a Wilms' tumour. Family friend, Mylea, shares his story…
Harry and his family had enjoyed a wonderful summer with relatives and friends, and had just returned from a lovely holiday together. Harry hadn’t shown signs of being poorly, but his parents noticed something that caused concern and they felt something wasn’t quite right. After seeking advice and undergoing further tests, they received the devastating news no parent is ever prepared for. Just days after celebrating his 4th birthday, Harry was diagnosed with a Wilm’s tumour.
Harry was diagnosed at the beginning of September 2025 at Peterborough Hospital and just days later, was referred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The family were immediately surrounded by an incredible team who explained what lay ahead and began treatment without delay.
Harry has already undergone procedures to prepare him for six weeks of chemotherapy. This is only the beginning, as further treatments and procedures will follow, but his incredible family are showing amazing strength and taking each step as it comes. His bravery has left everyone amazed, he faces each challenge with courage and a smile.
So far, Harry has completed two rounds of chemotherapy. There have been tough days, but his spirit and smile remain unshaken. Even in hospital, he finds ways to play, laugh, and bring joy to those around him. His determination inspires and strengthens his family every single day.
Harry is funny, loving, and full of life. He has a cheeky smile that melts hearts and a giggle that’s infectious. He adores dinosaurs, playing with cars, and superheroes. Harry loves playing with his big sister and is happiest when he’s surrounded by the people he loves most.
This fund has been set up to channel all the love and support Harry has received into something that can make a real difference. While they cannot change what’s happening, the family and friends want to stand alongside Harry and other children like him by supporting vital research and resources. For them, this fund is about giving hope not just to Harry, but to many more families.
The family chose CCLG because the charity is at the forefront of childhood cancer research and support. CCLG not only funds pioneering studies, but also provides trusted information for families and brings together professionals to improve treatment and care.
Knowing that the money raised will go towards helping children now and in the future gave the family confidence that this was the right choice.
The fund was named Hope for Harry because hope is what drives the family forward every day, and we have hope for Harry’s recovery, hope for his future, and hope for every child and family facing childhood cancer.
