The Adam Hay Fund

Raising funds for research into neuroblastoma

Adam was was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma

Adam was just 10 years old when he lost his fight with ‘the beast’, as he called his cancer. When

he was diagnosed a year earlier, he had just won a place to Highgate School in London, on the

brink of independence and opportunity. Adam was mature beyond his years, and intuitively

spiritual. This was never clearer than when he was enduring the year in hospital, and the

gruelling treatment regime. He helped friends and family come to terms with his cancer and its

inevitable outcome.

Adam loved sports. Following his diagnosis he received team caps from all over the world,

one arriving every day of his illness. This collection of more than 1,000 caps was donated to the

children’s ward – every child being treated for cancer wants a cap. This turned into Adam’s Hats,

a personal and lasting tribute to Adam. Adam would love knowing that friends and supporters of Adam’s Hats have

participated in all kinds of events to raise funds for the Charity.

In 2011, the Trustees of Adam’s Hats decided that the Charity’s work would be better developed

and supported through a larger and broader-based partner. The majority of activities of Adam’s

Hats now continue under the auspices of the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG).

Residual funds have been transferred to CCLG. Supporters of Adam’s Hats are welcome to

continue fundraising in Adam’s name. Although no longer a separate charity, The Adam Hay

Fund – Fundraising for CCLG, is ringfenced within CCLG. As part of this merger, CCLG is

committed to ensuring an annual Adam Hay Lecture
